Introduction

The TrueControl for Mac App provides the user with the ability to have iPad User Interface functionality on a Mac computer.

 

Requirements

 

  • OS X Lion 10.7 or later
  • Savant System Release 4.2.1 or later

Purchase and Download Savant TrueControl for Mac App

To purchase and download the TrueControl for Mac App using the iPad, tap the Apple App StoreSM icon.

Follow the on screen directions to purchase and download the App.

 

 

 

 

View the TrueControl for Mac App

 

 

1.  1. After TrueControl for Mac App has been downloaded, the following screen opens.

 

2.    2. Access the following pull-down menu items from the menu bar.

 

Savant TrueControl – Example System

1. On the screen menu bar, click Savant TrueControl > Preferences.

2. On the Preferences screen click Download to download an Example System.

 

 

 

 

My Systems

 

1. Next select My Systems from the menu bar.

2. From My Systems you can select Open System, Close System you are controlling or choose from a list of Recent Systems (such asExample System.savantui which you loaded earlier), as well as a previously programmed iPad user entitled House iPad.savantui.

 

 

 

System Browser

 

1. From System Browser on the menu bar,you can view what systems are available on the network.

2. Select Show System Browser.

3. This is where the available iPad users will be populated. Any iPad user created in Blueprint can be used by double-clicking on it or by selecting it and pressing Download. If you select Manual you can put system information in manually.

4. If the system is placed in a secure environment that requires you to point the App at the system IP Address and port number, enter that information in the Host and Port fields.

5. Select the Secure Connection checkbox for secure communication, if needed. 

6. The first time you input the information or select your system, it will download information to allow use of the system on the Mac.

 

View

The App provides a System Actual Size view, which is the default view. It also provides a Full Screen view.

 

Actual Size View

With the Actual Size view as shown above, you can adjust the size by dragging the corner of the window. You can also place the window any place on the desktop. There is also a short cut icon to enter and exit the Actual Size view. It is located in the upper right corner of the screen.

Full Screen View

The Full Screen view, as shown below, fills the screen and adds a background to block out the Mac desktop to provide less distraction. To return to the Actual Size view, return to View on the menu bar and select System Actual Size.

 

Selecting Different Users

 

1. Select Settings and then Systems to open a window to choose a different user.

2. Now you can see the System Browser so that you can choose any other user on the network.

 

Screen Controls

 

Using your mouse or track pad you can control your system in the same way as on an iPad. Since this App is running on a Mac you can take advantage of several control functions mapped to the keyboard.

For example, the M key will send the Menu command. The navigation controls have been mapped to the up, down, left and right cursor keys and enter key (OK) command. The number keys can be used to enter channels directly. There are other key commands as well.

 

 

Mac TrueControl Scrolling And Gestures

 

Continuous Scrolling

 

  • Containers such as the docks, scheduler, etc. allow continuous scrolling. 
  • Drag two fingers around on the Apple Magic Trackpad to scroll.
  • Drag one finger around on the Magic Mouse to scroll.
  • Use the scroll wheel on an older mouse to scroll.
  • When using an older mouse, the scrollbars should always be visible.
  • In order to be in the classical mode you cannot use a newer Apple mouse connected via Bluetooth.
  • The scrollbars may not show up if you deactivate the Magic Trackpad until you scroll somewhere. This condition is governed by the operating system.

Paged Scrolling

  • Containers such as the middle content in iPad themes allow paged scrolling.
  • Do a two finger-drag on the Magic Trackpad to begin the page transition.
  • Do a one finger-drag on the mouse to begin the page transition.
  • Use the scroll wheel on an older mouse to transition to another page. Vertical and horizontal axes both work.
  • Click on the page indicator to move between pages.

Zooming

  • Containers such as the scheduler views allow for zooming.
  • Use the pinch gesture on the Magic Trackpad to zoom.
  • The user can zoom by scrolling with the command key pressed.
  • The user can adjust the zoom scale from the menu bar. Zoom options are found within the View sub-menu.
  • The zoom options are only enabled if the content, which can be zoomed in on has focus. If the zoom options are grayed out, click within the container that can be zoomed in on.
  • You may also use the shortcut keys associated with the menu items.

▪   Zoom In: command-plus.

▪   Zoom in: command-minus.
